Britney Spears admitted herself into a mental health facility this week after discovering her father Jamie Spears was having complications from two major surgeries to “correct major issues with his intestines and colon.” She made the decision back in January to put her Vegas residency on hold to care for her father, but this apparently was too much for her to bare. In fact, TMZ reported that she was “distraught” over his illness.
To put worried fans at ease, Brit’s model boyfriend of 3 years, Sam Asghari made a post on Instagram in support saying “It isn’t weakness, It’s a sign of absolute strength, people should only be inspired by this, at least I am,” adding a red heart emoji and hashtag #stronger. He isn’t the only one to show her support as her ex-husband Kevin Federline gave a statement through his attorney saying “Kevin commends Britney for recognizing that she needs to take a step back and that she is taking the reasonable steps to deal with her situation in a responsible way.” He’s reported to be taking care of their two sons Preston, 13 and Jayden, 12 until she gets better. Her sister, Jamie Lynn paid her a tribute as well. Unfortunately, Britney’s incident coincided with Jamie Lynn’s birthday, but she still found the time to make a post of the two of them together growing up taking the school bus together, calling Britney her #WomanCrushWednesday. Her mother made a post on Instagram telling her whatever she does to “keep going.” It went on to say “No matter how bad things are right now. No matter how stuck you feel. No matter how many days you’ve spent crying… No matter how depressed and hopeless you feel, I promise you won’t feel this way forever.”
Britney’s held a special bond with her father over the years, notwithstanding the fact he’s been controlling her money for a decade or so now. It’s come as a surprise to many that she’s still under a conservatorship for her late 2000s head shaving breakdown. As it stands now, her father could approve for another family member to pick up his duties of overseeing her $200 million fortune. It could possibly be little sister Jamie Lynn, an attorney or the court could decide someone. Britney could actually petition the court herself to be in control of her finances herself. That would be a good idea given that she’s remained out of the public spotlight in recent years touring, releasing multiple highly successful albums… it’s just that this recent hospitalization isn’t helping her case. Empire star Taraji P. Henson said on The View “God bless her.” And she understands where Britney is coming from as she just broke down at the Variety Power of Women event, Friday, April 5th where she spoke about the “national crisis” of mental health. She spoke about her own struggles with depression and was honored for her work with the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, an organization she created.
A source close to the hitmaker says “She’s been devastated over the prospect of losing her dad. He’s always been her rock, and seeing him seriously ill has shattered her. She’s been depressed and hasn’t been able to find a way out of it. After Jamie’s recent surgery, she found herself so full of anxiety and panic, she didn’t know who to turn to or what to do. She’s been spiraling and feeling lost.” She’s currently planning to be in the hospital for the next 30 days. This was a good preemptive decision to keep her from descending into the type of personal and professional free-fall we witnessed a decade ago. And to this, we wish Britney the best and an expedient recovery.
