Cardi B just announced taking some time off to recover from lipo, stating she had an overzealous schedule and was too eager to get back to work and bouncing back after having her baby. With that being said, don’t count her out just yet. You know what the saying is about striking while the iron is hot. And while she’s been busy breaking Billboard records, releasing a Fashion Nova clothing line, etc., once she gets back to work after her recovery, she’s got plenty of business waiting for her.
She’s been a brand long before she ever hit a chart and that’s why with the new upcoming absence of Steve Harvey on daytime television, Cardi just might be looking to help fill the void. It’s being reported she wants her own cocktails type of show and has already filed the necessary trademark documents to get it done. “entertainment services in the nature of providing ongoing episodes for distribution via television and the Internet featuring celebrities and artists.” Now this is definitely worth watching and hopefully it’ll last longer than the 14 episodes Khloe Kardashian lasted with Kócktails with Khloé on the FYI Network before being canceled. And to think, she’s the biggest personality out of the Kardashians. It leads one to ask if she can’t make it, who can?
And if this isn’t enough Bardi overload, she also wants drinks made with her name as well. She wants exclusivity on clothing including shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hooded sweatshirts, hats, caps, footwear, skirts, dresses, blouses, sweaters, pants and shorts.” Now that’s what we call branding and for someone just an album out of the gate, that’s amazing. And to steal a headline from the site Jezebel, we’re in agreement that we too would “watch the sh** out of a tv show about Cardi B.”
When Bethenny’s daytime talk show was canceled, one of the critiques was that it’s hard to carry a talk show unless you’re a journalist or a comedian. While this is true, there are exceptions to every rule. Just look at Queen Latifah, Angie Martinez, Kelly Clarkson and others. Either way, we’re here for it. Cardi has the IT factor when it comes to her personality so we’re going to keep our fingers crossed for the show’s success.
