Rapper DaBaby performed at Hot 97’s Summer Jam over the weekend showing the industry hasn’t completely thrown him away over his previous comments at Rolling Loud festival that’s caused the whole industry to opine and take sides on. The 29 year old rapper whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk took the stage to a video montage of him saying thanking Hot 97 saying they “allowed me to share my gift, share my blessing with y’all out here live on this stage amongst all the chaos and all the backlash.”

“So hats off to y’all for that,” he continued. “… They accepted my sincerity and all my apologies when I said I never, ever meant to offend anybody or say anything to make anybody feel any type of way live on that stage a few weeks ago.”
“And Hot 97 was also willing to stick they neck out on the line, willing to go against all odds with everything going on out here in the world — they still allowed me to come right here on this stage and utilize their platform,” added DaBaby. “They helped the world move forward and become a better place and not dismiss people based off mistakes made like we ain’t human.”
What’s crazy about this is that his team basically has taken the reigns here, knowing he needed to redeem himself on stage again but knew it was best to do something pretaped instead of trusting him in the moment. And that’s fine because at least they’re attempting to be responsible. It does show he might not get it yet but it’s a start and we’ll accept it.
But predictably, because he simply can’t help himself, he then went on to call his critics crybabies. “Other than the people that, you know, was truly offended, I feel like the rest of y’all motherfuckers being crybabies,” Complex reported him as saying.
