Ariana Grande is in her prime these days. She’s the only artist to have her first single from her first four album in the top 10 on the Hot 100, currently riding the heels of her first Number One hit in the US, Thank U Next and now ranks the most followed woman on Instagram. And this is a nice change of pace for the former Cat Valentine actress considering how she lost her boyfriend Mac Miller to suicide only to have her next boyfriend Pete Davidson to also give signs of being suicidal and come to think of it, her ex Big Sean rapped about suicidal thoughts on Stick to the Plan.
So given her track record with men, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if she were to emerge as a lesbian or at least bisexual. And that seems to be exactly what’s going on with Grande these days after releasing her single Monopoly where she sings ““I like women and men, yeah//Work so fuckin’ much, need a twinny, twin, twin.” Her longtime collaborator Victoria Monét whose worked with her on Better Days, Let Me Love You, Be Alright, performed as her opening act on her Dangerous Woman tour etc., alluded to the rumors of her being bisexual saying “She said what she said,” in response to being asked “IS SHE BI OR NAH” on Instagram. Hmm. A lesbian Ariana Grande. I’d imagine that would be hot if this weren’t being written by a gay man. *shrug* A fan tweeted her saying “Ariana ain’t gotta label herself, but she said what she said.” She responded saying “I haven’t before and still don’t feel the need to now…which is okay.” Now if in fact Ariana is bi, she’s in good company since Victoria came out as such last year and since they’ve been performing every night together on Ariana’s Sweetener tour, it might have rubbed off.
In a special edition of Teen Vogue, out now, the star of Teen Spirit, Elle Fanning spoke about Ariana Grande whose music appears on the film’s soundtrack. “The best pop artists are the ones that are the most authentic…On her most recent album [Thank u, next], you can tell that somebody didn’t tell her to release that; it’s from the heart. She wanted to do that and wrote those songs herself, and it’s more personal.”
Now as for Ariana and this whole Lesbiangate she’s found herself in; while we’re not sure if this is just a song or a phase she’s going through, all we ask is that if it’s true, we get the heads up so we can be the first to let you all know.
