One of the leading recent high profile additions to The Real Housewives of Atlanta was Eva Marcille. Eva the Diva brought both youth and a most importantly an impressive resume to the show, something many of the Housewives among the franchises tend to lack. Despite her keen reading skills and still in tact beauty, she has decided to move on from the show, announcing in a statement she will not be back for season 13.

In a statement to The Jasmine Brand Marcille stated, “I appreciate the bond of friendship that I have made with several of my cast mates and the strong personal relationships I have with numerous executives and producers at the Bravo and Truly Entertainment companies.

I am thankful for the opportunity I was provided. However, after speaking with my family and representatives, I believe that what I hope to accomplish for the culture and community will be better served by focusing on other opportunities. I look forward to serving my community on the Rickey Smiley Morning show and finding ways to be a voice during this transformational time in our country for people of color.”

She also made an announcement to her fans on air Tuesday at her job at The Rickey Smiley Show saying, “I have a six-year-old daughter and two young boys still in diapers,” she said on the air. “They’re 24-hours a day, and there’s a lot of work to be done.”

It’s good to see Marcille focused on trying to further the culture and wanting to make positive contributions to the black community. Some of her criticism on the show was from NeNe Leakes calling her boring. That absolutely was not the case as her reads and shade on that show was legendary. To try and shame her for possibly experiencing financial issues, which was never confirmed is hypocritical at best from the rest of the cast.

NeNe was found by Atlanta’s Fox 5 to have been living in a tiny townhome around 1200 square feet in Season 1 instead of the mansion she filmed in. Porsha Williams called her a “bottom b*tch,” yet she moved in with her mother until she got a house of her own and had her wedding dress sent to her in the bottom of a box of her stuff. And Kenya Moore said Marlo Hampton had holes in her shoes. That also hasn’t been confirmed, but shaming Marcille when she both had a husband and children, something a lot of the other women wish they had and a solid resume comes across more as petty than legitimate shade. Things have worked out for her at the end of the day, we’ll say and we wish her the best moving on from the show. And who knows, we might see her back again.
