Kenbrell Thompkins was a Wide Receiver for the Jets, Raiders and Patriots that’s now finding himself facing a whopping decade+ in prison for identity theft. It’s been revealed by federal prosecutors that he used stolen identities of several people to get over $300,000 in ill-gotten pandemic unemployment claims. He used their information to apply for financial relief in California in August of 2020 and was caught on camera withdrawing $230,000 from the government issued debit cards. court records state he’s facing 1 charge of of use of one or more unauthorized devices and 2 charges of aggravated identity theft. And all of that leads to a decade and then some in prison if all the charges stick.
Now Thompkins himself is an interesting man. To start, he’s from Miami and if you’re not aware, that is the credit card theft capitol of the country if not the world. This is an actual fact. People actually learn the tricks of the trade there and take it elsewhere. Just as the rap duo, City Girls. So to find out he’s engaging in this type of behavior from that city, it isn’t surprising.
He was also expelled a number of 3 times from high school growing up so he’s had a tough background. It’s just unfortunate to see this type of talent of his turn into this. He’s now about 4 years out of the league when he only spent 4 years in. If this teaches us anything, it’s that COVID has affected us all and that people went to great lengths to stay above water over the last 12 months. We’re going to be reporting more on this as details come in.
