Rapper Fat Joe may have done well for himself being one of the most recognizable names in rap but his kids seem to have an overinflated sense of just how well things are going. During an appearance on the “I Am Athlete” podcast he told the hosts “You should never lie to yourself. Don’t even lie to your family. I tell my wife, I tell my kids, we are not Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs or Shawn Carter, Jay-Z. One day my son– he was like, 19 [years old], he’s like, ‘Yo dad, look at this!’ I look at it, he got Dr. Dre son on a private plane, you got Jay-Z. He’s like, ‘This is how the sons are moving now!’.”
He went on to address how he talks to his son saying, “I was like, ‘You ain’t fuckin’ movin’!’.. We ain’t got that sh*t! So, stop lookin’ at them mutha**ckas and stay the course! Stay in your lane, because a lot of—it can be women, too—but a lot of men lose themselves by not trying to keep it real with themselves.”
The Bronx rapper’s not doing too shabby though. He did just announce partnering with White Castle for a series of sloppy joe sandwiches. Pretty genius, eh? And that puts him in the lane with Mariah Carey and Saweetie with McDonalds meals of their own and even Burger King given Nelly one of his own. His sandwich will be out at the end of the month.
His talk might be harsh and even laughable to some, but that’s what keeps people out of trouble. He’s a smart man.
