A new record has been broken by Iman Shumpert. The former NBA player along with his partner Daniella Karagach Pashkova have been shocking fans and judges weekly on Dancing with the Stars with Shumpert surpassing expectataions. It was announced today that he would be taking home the win making him the first former NBA player to not only make it to the finals but to win.
Back in September he spoke about the transition in joining the show saying, “Rehearsals are going good. I think that having the partner that I have is making it really easy. She’s fun and I think she does a really good job of understanding where my comfort zone is and doing a lot of the choreography that I’m able to look good rather than look like I don’t know what I’m doing out there.”
So at this point we have a man who has crushed it in the NBA, Dancing with the Stars and maybe we can see more of his rap career now. Back in September he said on his reality show with his wife Teyana Taylor that she wasn’t sure about his rap career in the beginning. He said, “Early on, she didn’t like that I did so much music,” Iman explains. “She was like, ‘It’s just weird, like a basketball player who is a rapper too.’ But I think little by little, she sees how much I like it.”
If he can get through Dancing with the Stars with 8 million viewers tuning in for the premiere of this season alone, he can do rap. At least we’re crossing our fingers in hope…
