Last summer we reported that Kanye West would be having a line with Gap coming out soon and we now have word that a tentative launch date is set. That date that his product should be on the shelves in the end of June. Their Global Head of the Gap Brand, Mark Breitband said in a statement, “We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership.”

This 10 year deal has been reported to possibly being worth $1 billion. And it’s important to the company as Gap has been laying off employees and closing stores to save money, so they’re looking at West to pull this off.

This collaboration is a dream of West’s. He told Vogue back in 2015 “One of my dreams was to be the head creative director of the Gap. I’d like to be the Steve Jobs of the Gap … I’m not talking about a capsule. I’m talking about full … creative control of the Gap is what I would like to do.”

We’re happy for his trip going full circle was a positive one for him. That isn’t always the case for everyone. He did well during the pandemic and he’s able to take some ownership and lead creativity in the company that gave him his first job. That’s a dream many are going to live vicariously through him as an example that they too can do the same thing.
