Kevin Hart appears to be in comedic pergatory with the gay community at the moment. When word broke that Jussie Smollett was attacked, Kevin wrote him some well wishes on Instagram, very much like the rest of Hollywood did.

“Sending prayers your way @jussiesmollett ….This is unbelievably sad. Why are we going backwards….this is disgusting. We as people have to do better. WTF is going on the world???? Why are we falling in love with hate???? God damn it people….Choose love…I repeat…Choose love. I will forever choose love and I will continue to teach my kids how to do the same. Stand strong brother”

And just what could be wrong with what he said? Well Gay Twitter and Instagram doesn’t seem to be what they deemed were homophobic remarks a decade ago and made it pretty clear in his comments.

“This is why someone’s jokes about beating their gay son were never funny,” TV writer Ira Madison III wrote.  “Keep yo tears n prayers…This is why yo joke was important and such an issue,” activist Jerry Ford, Jr. wrote.

Seeing where his good intentions had gotten him, Kevin followed up the post with another letting the world know he wasn’t bothered by what was being said.

“Operation spread love is in full effect damn it,” he said seemingly undeterred. ” I don’t condone or believe in hate, in fact, I despise it. Hate makes me sick to my stomach…It’s pointless. Cowards & weak individuals embrace it. I choose love…I love all of you. I challenge the rest of the world 2 do the same.”

To be quite honest, whether anyone liked his old jokes or not, he has apologized, and apologized again. At this point, what more does he need to do to get back in people’s good graces? Then again, telling someone you hope they get better soon after being hospitalized for an attack is a pretty normal thing to do. It’s only on the internet could such a thing be misconstrued. It’s the reason he’s said in the past he doesn’t spend that much time on social media because that’s where angry people reside. After all, he’s at the top of his career. Why would he want to dim his shine by acknowledging hate all day, anyway? In fact, that’s a lesson Cardi B could learn.
