Kid Cudi had the chance to be the headliner for Rolling Loud Miami this year but it didn’t exactly go as planned with fans throwing bottles at him booing. He’s mostly remained quiet about the situation until this week. Speaking to Zane Lowe on his Apple Music show, he said “It’s supposed to be an unspoken agreement amongst artists and fans, that you’re supposed to give the utmost respect and not interfere with the performance.”

He also expressed interest in wanting to put music on hold saying, “The Kid Cudi stuff, I think I want to put it on the back burner and chill out with that,” he said. “I think, I want to be done with it. I think, closing the chapter on Kid Cudi.” Speaking about his new animated Netflix show Entegalactic that he created with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, he said “The goal for Entergalactic, I was bored of making albums. Just, doing an album, two music videos and that’s it. And I was like, ‘Man, I went into this wanting to do something epic and different.’ And now, that I’ve done that, I just… I’ve made a lot of music, man.”

He hasn’t exactly ruled out ever making music again. “I’ve said a lot and I have other desires, I have other things I want to do,” he continued. “And I do not see me never making music, I’ll always fuck around in the studio, or make something here and there. But, as far as getting in the studio and working on an album, and then going and touring it, I just don’t have it in me. I don’t have the desire.”

He continued: “I have so many other things I want to invest my time into… I really want to spend more time with my daughter. You know what I’m saying? We’ve been kicking it a lot lately and I’ve been having more time and it’s good, she’s growing up, our relationship is super tight. It’s what I always dreamed of.”

As for the Rolling Loud falling out, not only was filling the shoes of Kanye West going to be difficult, but Kanye publicly announcing he wouldn’t be on Donda 2 despite being on the predecessor didn’t help things. And it was all over him being friends with Kanye’s ex wife Kim Kardashian’s new man Pete Davidson. He responded to Kanye on twitter at the time on Instagram saying, “Too bad I don’t wanna be on ur album u fuckin dinosaur hahaha. Everyone knows I’ve been the best thing about ur albums since I met you. Ima pray for u brother.”

He added on Twitter: “We talked weeks ago about this. You’re whack for flipping the script and posting this lie just for a look on the internet. You ain’t no friend. BYE.”

Hopefully his foray into production will be able to clear his head for a return to music later because that whole Rolling Loud scenario as well as blowing up with Kanye was likely a traumatizing experience as an artist. He started his production company Mad Solar in 2020 and created his first clothing line Members of the Rage earlier this year so he has plenty to keep him occupied in the meantime.
