In January HBO announced a sequel to its hit series Sex and the City that has now ended close to 20 years ago and its last sequel film being over a decade ago. And now while they’re still filming the first season of this sequel series titled And Just Like That, a second season has been announced. And this time around production has paid attention to fans missing Kim Cattrall who was noticeably absent during the first season of the show and have stated tha the door is open should she choose to want to return.

A second season is “expected to be announced soon” a Daily Mail insider has stated and the “door is open” for Cattrall. “There was obviously a concern that people would miss Kim and not be engaged but the response so far has been phenomenal,” the source added. “If she ever changes her mind, she can come back.”

The insider went on to say, “The ladies love and value her and would love to see her on the new show. The whole point of this series is to show that friendships evolve and change over time, so Kim is always welcome to come home. If Kim’s reps called us now and said she was available – we’d book her on the first flight to New York. There’s still time,” the source alleged.

Now there is a back history with Cattrall and the rest of the cast. There was a rumored feud between her and the other women that persisted almost since Season 2 of the show in the 90s. It started with Sarah Jessica Parker getting a promotion to being executive producer on the show with a pay increase leading Cattrall to ask for one as well. For over 20 years through about 20 years it was stated that that request of hers upset the rest of the cast and constant tabloid reports of a feud continued.

Both women would deny any conflict consistently over the years with Cattrall saying it was hard for the public to believe two successful women could work together. Parker has said that no one ever did this with male dominated shows. It wasn’t until about 2017 tha Cattrall said she was never friends with the cast. This reportedly hurt Parker who said this wasn’t how she recalled things.

When Cattrall’s 55 year old brother was found dead in 2015, Parker sent Cattrall her condolences. When asked about doing so on Entertainment Tonight, she said, “If somebody in your life, whether you’re in touch with them or not, [is] suffering for any reason, it’s involuntary that you want to convey condolences or sadness or just let someone know you’re thinking about them.”

So in short, these women have a long tangled history, but that’s life. Whether Cattrall returns is yet to be seen. It would be nice to see her but also interesting to see if they’re able to pull off the show without her.
