Rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks has a warrant for his arrest for his involvement in a shooting of a man at Varsity restaurant in Atlanta. It happened on February 5th at a Varsity, a family restaurant where police say there were a reports of an argument with an unknown black man before the shooting where he suffered a gunshot wound. They were able to recover 13 shell casings from a rifle and a pistol at the scene as well as a firearm. The victim was rushed to the hospital, had surgery and survived. Security footage has been reviewed and the investigation is still ongoing.
As for Durk’s charges, they’re 5 felony counts of criminal intent to commit murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and another charge of associating with a criminal street gang to participate in a crime. He put on Instagram last night that he would be turning himself in today.
Durk joined a gang about 10 years ago when he dropped out of high school. He’s had a number of arrests over his career but has never been away for any significant period of time. At least in this incident, no one was killed but at this point in this career, one would hope that he would have done well enough to at least not have to be involved with gangs still, or at least not this type of behavior.
