We just finished having an uninterrupted 19 week #1 run of rapper Lil Nas X with Old Town Road combined with him coming out of the closet so the media blitz around his name has been nothing less than historic. And if he’s anywhere near as tired as some in the public have claimed to be of him, it would be understandable. And let’s be clear, the song Old Town Road first went viral on TikTok and usually those things become annoying after seeing them on social media so for it to then go on and be a Number One hit for months, is a bit much. This is probably why he just announced that he’s taking a hiatus from music.
“It’s been a wild last 7 months and im ready to take a little time off,” he tweeted. “Sorry to everyone attending twitchcon or the sandbox music festival, i will not be there. i love u guys and will make it up to you some way.” We forget that this wasn’t just about a single song. The viral song is a remix of the original and further remixes were made with RM of BTS, Young Thug and Ramsey and there was even an Area 51 raid version. He’s earned his time off, so long as he doesn’t wait too long. You know how this industry works. But this should satisfy those who have been complaining about his coming out story and that song being played literally everywhere from an artist who just released their first album this past June. He might even have a chance to do some dating while he’s away. We already know who he’s not dating. (See his reaction to Bobby Lytes shooting his shot at the 2019 MTV VMAs). We’ll be here waiting for when he gets back.
