Yesterday tennis star Naomi Osaka, who caused controversy after pulling out of the French Open and subsequently pulled out of Wimbledon was spotted out for the first time since yesterday’s announcement. Wearing a COVID mask she was seen outside of Monsieur Marcel Gourmet Market, Bistro & Seafood Market in L.A.

When asked for comment about the “personal time” she is choosing to take for her mental health, she declined. Her team already gave one which she probably thinks is sufficient and if she dropped out of the French Open over declining to speak to the media, it shouldn’t be any surprise she’s not doing it on the street.

“She will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to play in front of her home fans” is the official statement put out already about the matter. And off she went after her grocery run in her 1970s Ford Bronco.

We have to add that the controversy around her choosing to not do press over her mental health and the media reaction was ridiculous. You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. We live in a country of mass shootings often coming out of mental health issues. So if she decides to protect her mental health it’s a problem and then if she had a public outburst, that also would have been a problem. She paid the fine and people were still up in arms about it. We’re just glad that she’s doing fine and doing what she feels is necessary. She’s going to play in the Olympics. So clearly she’s not doing that bad.
