Nicki Minaj is now joining the ranks of artists who make tons of empty, unnecessary retirement announcements. She announced her retirement from music Thursday, only to follow up with an apology hours later. Does she think she’s Cher? Elton John, much? “I’m still right here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that,” she tweeted. “In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be. I promise u guys will be happy. No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe.” Listen, we understand wanting to raise a family, focus on your relationship but if you’re going to make a decision, stick to it… at least for more than 24 hours. Jesus H. Christ.

Then looking at the announcement itself, it came at a time that TMZ said she’s currently been in the studio working on a new album and even made plans to work with some other artists just this week. It was also reported that her team feels it’s more about her taking a break considering there’s a Nicki Hate Train going now talking about her popularity, or lack thereof and fallacies about her writing, her relationship, etc. Nicki’s a great artist but she has competition now and this is as good of a time as any to regroup.

She’s been coming off as bitter a lot lately with her talking about everyone else on her radio show which seems to only be fueling the Nicki Hate Train and we hate to say it but she seems to be her own worst enemy because she’s causing a lot of this hate herself. Either way, she’s still young. She’s 36 and retiring arguably in her prime would only prove her detractors right. And for Christ’s sake, don’t start this “I’m retiring” nonsense every other year. We really don’t need that.
