It’s now been about a year and a half since Nicki Minaj’ father Robert Maraj died crossing the street in Long Island in a hit and run incident. Back in May, the man that hit him, Charles Polevich who didn’t surrender to the Nassau County Police until 3 days later, plead guilty to two counts of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and evidence tampering. When the car he used to hit her father was found, its appearance had been altered. Well he has now been sentenced to a year behind bars along with 6 months of a suspended license and a $5,000 fine. This is a far cry from the 7 years he was originally facing.

Not long after the accident took place, Minaj commented about her father saying, “I can say it has been the most devastating loss of my life.” In a letter to fans, she wrote “I find myself wanting to call him all the time. More so now that he’s gone. Life is funny that way. May his soul rest in paradise. He was very loved & will be very missed.” And for his birthday in May, last year she wrote “Happy Birthday Daddy. Miss u so much. So much. So so much. Rest In Peace. Oh my God.” We know the unique relationship women have with their dads and how devastating losing that parental figure can be. We hope that this sentencing can help add some closure to things.

In other Minaj news, she had to deal with trending for an alleged former assistant by the name of Kate Miller who made a number of damaging and harsh accusations that immediately viral. The claims ranged from her sleeping with Drake and Lil Wayne despite her claiming otherwise and pretty much every major rapper when she was underground as an artist. A red flag went up when Miler said she owed $173 million to the IRS. That was the one Nicki went live to discuss in outrage that people would believe it. She said, “It’s clearly a kid. Do you know how much money you have to make to owe that amount of money to the IRS? … Like, come on. What? Get off of my sweet Trinidadian pussy. I really need y’all to either get a job, invest in yourself and your future.”

She continued: “Y’all, this is another fanbase, they’re going through with their plot to take me down ’cause they see that all the lies they’ve made thus far has never worked. God don’t like ugly, no weapon formed against me will prosper, okay? It’s people that’s right now paying entire staffs to figure out how to emulate Nicki. I know for a fact from actual people that work for labels, they have meetings, they’ve concocted every plan they can … When Mack [Maine] hit me, that’s when I knew I had to address this. Alright y’all, goodnight.”
