Hilary Tisch was the daughter of the Tisch family dynasty died Monday in a Los Angeles hospital following a suicide attempt over the weekend. “Hilary was a kind, caring and beautiful person,” her father Steve Tisch said in the statement. “Her mother, sisters, brothers and I are devastated by her passing. It leaves a hole in our hearts and our lives. She, like so many others, bravely fought the disease of depression for as long as she could. We love and will miss her dearly. Our family is utterly heartbroken and is mourning its tragic loss. We ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”

Another statement came from Giants co-owner John Mara saying “On behalf of the Mara family and the rest of the Giants organization, I want to express our deepest sympathy to Steve and his family. Our hearts are heavy for their loss of Hilary. We pray for their peace and comfort.”

This is a case of money not buying happiness. If there is a name synonymous with New York City it would be the Tisch family and not based on wealth that stretches back to the 1800s. Her parents are the founders of the Loews hotel chain and also have the Tisch School of the Arts and Tisch Hospital worth a combined $21 billion. Hilary herself was a jewelry designer, gemologist and founding partner of the L.A. brand Doen. Alas suicide doesn’t discriminate amongst zip codes which is what happened here.

Hilary is survived by her father Steve, her mother Patsy and Will Tisch and his wife Grace, Elizabeth Tisch, Holden Tisch and Zachary Tisch.
