Pink appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and was asked about the Framed Britney Spears documentary on Hulu where she expressed some regret over the level of support she’s given her over the years.
“I love Britney. Here’s the thing about all of us voyeurs, none of us know what’s going on. We’re not there. I would like to, I think we’d all like to. We feel this fierce protectiveness over her for good reason. She’s a sweetheart. She’s incredibly sweet. All I know is she’s incredibly sweet and I want her to be happy.”
When asked if she had seen the documentary, she said, “I’m a strong person. I could’ve reached out more. I don’t like feeling helpless or powerless and I can only imagine how she feels. She could’ve used some support and the media tore her apart. The paparazzi are scum. I wish I could’ve reached out and gave her a hug.”
And Britney herself had something to say about the documentary in a May 3rd Instagram post saying, “These documentaries are so hypocritical … they criticize the media and then do the same thing,” she wrote at the time. “Why highlight the most negative and traumatizing times in my life from forever ago ????”
As the show progressed, they went into fun territory, such as Cohen asking one of his famous questions, whether the songstress had ever taken a dip in the lady pond. She responded saying, “Okay, my first girlfriend, I was 13 and she left me for my brother. I was very confused by that because she kissed me first and that’s gross.” She has, however told The Guardian in the past, she doesn’t like to be “put in a box” about her sexuality and just wants to live her life without being labeled.
But in the relationship department, her 15 year marriage to former motorcycle racer Cary Hart says she’s not only doing something right but her preferred orientation at least appears to be clear for now. She’s releasing her own documentary today on Amazon Prime where she spoke about the secret to her marriage lasting to Extra.
“For us, the answer is there’s no quit button. Unless we find one. Right now, we don’t have one,” she said with a laugh. “But it’s also couples’ counseling. Learning how to speak the same language, ’cause we don’t speak the same language.”
“We love being a family. And we both come from families that gave up, and that’s okay,” she continued. “That was their journey, that was the journey we all were supposed to be on. But for us, we don’t want to do that.”
She took a moment to thank her husband for supporting every dream she’s chased. “A lot of people get Carey wrong when they think, ‘Oh [he is] this moto-dude, hypermasculine and tattoos. He’s just the most sensitive, supportive guy in the world. He never says no. Any dream I’ve ever had, ‘Yes, I’m with you. Whatever you want to do,’ ” Pink added at another point during the conversation. “It takes swallowing egos sometimes. It’s beautiful because it allows us to have this crazy, magical adventure and the kids.”
Pink’s new documentary, All I Know So Far is out today on Amazon Prime.
