Rolling Loud New York will be taking place September 23-25 at Citi Field with Nicki Minaj, A$AP Rocky and Future as headliners. Added to the mix will be Sky rapper Playboi Carti according to the event organizers in a new interview with TMZ Hip Hop where they said they “believed in Carti ever since 2015,” a whole 2 years before his debut mixtape was out. They continued saying, “Carti’s redefining what it means to be a hip hop artist, so it’s only right for him to play a big part in our latest festival in hip hop’s hometown. We can’t wait to see what this future headliner has planned for the New York crowd.”

And as a testament to his work, Wiz Khalifa recently complimented him during a sit down with Our Generation Music where he said, “What younger kids are feeling like when they come out, that’s what they wanna do. They wanna fuckin’ rage, they wanna jump, they wanna scream. And he knows how to bring that out in people. Especially the set design, that’s what I’m a nerd about. He’s all the way up here on a fuckin’ mountain and shit. I’m like, ‘that’s hard.’”

For context, Carti’s been described as having a “cult following’ by XXL Magazine where he responded saying, “I’m just being myself and I feel like it’s a lot of people who really want to be themselves and do a lot of different things. That’s the reason why it’s a cult because everybody is not going to understand and I understand. And when they see me, especially when I was coming up, [they are] like, ‘Damn, Carti look just like me.’ A regular Atlanta n-gga, you know what I’m saying?”

In other Carti news, he’s been accused of stealing music from A$AP Bari who says he wasn’t given credit for his work on his track of his. The song in question is Go2DaMoon on the No. 1 album Whole Lotta Red. “When you play Carti a Kanye song you had in ur phone produce by @wheezy,” Bari wrote in the caption of his IG Story, with a clip showing Carti turning up to his song with Kanye. “Even tho Carti never paid me or gave me Credit on the album but that go’s to a lot of rapper I’ve helped out but never got Credit for.”
