As previously reported, pro skateboarder Terry Kennedy was arrested on July 27th for attacking a man in an Oakbrook Terrace motel in Illinois, leaving him with a broken skull. Well the victim’s identity has now been revealed to be 23 year old skateboarder Josiah Kassahun. He died from the concussion he was placed in which may now increase the charges of assault Kennedy received adding murder or manslaughter at the least to his charges. This also is on top of the charges of threatening a public official when he told the arresting officers, “I will kill one of you police. We kill police where I’m from.” And he was charged with violating his bond as he had been arrested not long prior to all of this.

A source to The Sun said the two knew each other from skating in the same neighborhood. “They started hanging out and skating soon after that,” they told the paper. Max Williams, a Chicago videographer and close friend of Kassahun’s called him a “genuine” person and an incredible talent.

“He was a very genuine guy. His smile quite literally made everyone around him smile,” Williams said. “He was the kind of guy that you could have a really bad day and he’d find a way to turn it around. He always cared about what was going on in everyone’s life and honestly was one of my biggest supporters.

“[He] always complimented me on my videos in person. As a skater, he was seriously incredible and pulled off tricks that literally no one else could, and would literally wow everyone.”

Kennedy’s bond was set at $100,000 and he’s still behind bars.
