Rapper Ambjaay has a hit single Uno that’s been put on the map with the help of people like Kylie Jenner and Drake. He came across a video of what looked like a couple hundred kids at a high school dancing to his music and said he was coming to show them some love. Instead of making any elaborate plans, he chose to have a concert in a park.. but was shut down by the police for not having a permit. He announced moving to another park and this time, not only was it shut down, he was put in the back of a paddywagon with cuffs put on him for “disturbing the peace.” He claims it only happened because he was being racially profiled.
Whether or not the rapper was arrested due to racial profiling is debatable but from a legal standpoint, you can’t just have full on concerts in parks without a permit. That’s pretty much anywhere in the country. The same goes for protests although at times police tend to be understanding based on the event. For a 20 year old rapper it may sound silly but that’s the law and why his management allowed him to go and do that without attempting to stop him, we have no idea. You can’t let your client run a muck without some type of guidance. And while it came with well intentions, we hope that he’ll give it another try and this time by actually following the rules because it’s unfortunate seeing people get into trouble for giving back to the community of all things.
