Rapper NBA Youngboy just plead guilty in the kidnapping and assault case of his then girlfriend, Jania Jackson in February of 2018. Security footage of the hotel he was staying in showed him both body slamming her in the hall way and dragging her into a room. When police got a hold of the footage, she said she didn’t want to press charges, but a grand jury indicted him anyway. She said they were just playing around. Apparently the jury wasn’t convinced of this. He’s since been on a 14 month house arrest sentence and just plead guilty to charges related to the incident yesterday, Thursday, December 19th at Ware County District Attorney’s Office in Georgia. While the original charges he was facing were related to kidnapping and aggravated assault, he settled on the lesser charge of simple battery family violence and won’t have to serve a day behind bars. Instead he has 12 months of probation to look forward to.

Jackson didn’t appear at the hearing discussing the alleged assault on her. Not only did she not appear, she told the DA’s office if she were to be forced to appear in court against her will that she wouldn’t testify against him, so there was no point in forcing her hand. The Ware County District Attorney, George Barnhill said, “We resolved the case as best we could without her cooperation.” What’s amazing here is that out of all this time he’s been on house arrest, he still rakes in massive views and hasn’t lost his place in the industry despite not being able to go anywhere.

With that being said, the object lesson is that whether he and his girlfriend were playing around or not, this is why you can’t be engaging in questionable behavior on private property that isn’t yours. Always assume cameras are everywhere because if they are and you’re caught doing something you’re not supposed to, it can be subpoenaed and used against you… as evidenced by this case. It’s also a tough line to have someone indicted for doing something to a person who said nothing was done to them and still refuses to testify against them nearly 2 years later. It’s hard to look at a case like this and not think that maybe he’s right about being targeted. We’ll likely never know but hopefully this experience has taught him about staying out of trouble. His career might have been able to weather this one, but it’s not guaranteed the next time around.
