Rapper Toosii just celebrated his first Hot 100 entrance with Favorite Song debuting at Number 51, released February 17th. But despite recent successes, he still took some time out of his day to hop on the Gram and address those mistreating others based on their sexuality. He said that people shouldn’t be using calling someone gay as an insult or attack and that those who do it are the ones who really should be getting attacked. And he said he doesn’t care who takes his words and twists them into something else.

And just what made him take this topic on? Well you might remember he moved a female fan’s hand who was attempting to grope his crotch on stage in 2021 which lead to gay jokes being made about him. In his defense, if it were DaBaby and he had kicked her in the face, no one would have said a thing. Then there’s the fact that he’s friends with male hairstylist Arrogant Tae, who happens to be gay, which lead to rumors of them sleeping together. He addressed it at the time telling Angela Yee, “At first, it ain’t bother me because it was like I know what the f### I am. I love p####
We’re gonna keep it one hundred. It’s in the songs.” He continued, “So it didn’t bother me at first. But then people started to drag it on and on and on.”

Then explaining the business relationship he had with Arrogant Tae that started it all, he said “I had seen Arrogant Tae in the airport. Never seen this man outside of the airport, ever. I was trying to get him to do my girl’s and my mom’s hair. Next thing I know, the @urfavesbeforeig take the s### and flip it – ‘Toosii and Arrogant Tae f######.’ What the f### [are] you talking about?” Now this is a man who has said he would quit music if he had to make the choice between music and his girlfriend. And he’s also made a post in 2020 during Pride month saying, “I don’t care if you gay, straight, bi, lesbian, trans whatever.. Feel comfortable with you.” So this isn’t his first time standing up for the community.

As someone who has struggled over the years with choosing how open I want to be about liking other guys, no one wants to deal with that type of added criticism. That’s exactly why people choose to keep their sexuality to themselves. And even though there are those who say the LGBT community doesn’t need straight spokespersons, I say that any amount would help. I’m contemplating a lawsuit against a corporation for an incident of discrimination recently and that wouldn’t be a thing if others stood up for what was right whether it involved their demographic or not.
