During an interview on Angela Yee’s podcast Lip Service, R&B singer Tank took made what’s probably going to be known as one of the most memorable statements of his career. The discussion was about whether lying. Tank said that lying does not make a man a liar anymore than performing oral on another man makes that man gay. “He sucked a dick once and then he’s like, ‘I’m not sure if I liked it or not. Let me try again.’ And then he says, ‘You know what, it’s not for me…’” he said, “It doesn’t mean he’s gay. It means he sucked dick twice. Because the art of being gay is being gay.”

This makes Tank’s second side eye moment following his 2017 performance at Gay Pride in Washington, DC. The sad part is that if straight women can perform at gay pride, why can’t men? So that gives us less of a pause. As for this, we’re not sure. But the problem here is, he said all of that to say what? Is he coming out of the closet next? Was that a quiet invite for the closet gays to know they could hit him up and that his DMs are a safe space? Is there merit behind what he says? That’s between him and his conscience. But if he did try something with a guy a couple times and changed his mind and wants to talk about it, we don’t mind listening. At this point, we’re sure more people would listen to him talk about that than his music so why not come clean and spill everything. And lastly, just wondering, is this a Bowie State University thing? I think the Howard Bisons would have kept this one to themselves. Just saying.
