Terry Kennedy is a skateboarding legend. He’s a success story of someone who came from a tough neighborhood and became one of the biggest names in skateboarding known for working with Rob Dyrdek. He even did an interview explaining why he chose a natural high over drugs. So it was surprising to see the violent events he was involved in this week.
July 27th police responded to a call reporting battery at an Oakbrook Terrace, IL motel. A spokesperson for the DuPage State’s Attorney’s Office said Kennedy was accused of violenty attacking a man and had cracked his skull before fleeing the scene. Then when police showed up, he threatened to kill them. He threatened to kill them 9 times saying things like, “I will kill one of you police. We kill police where I’m from.” He even referenced the 2017 killing of a police officer in Whittier, CA with him saying, “We killed ya’ll in Whittier, California. We killed ya’ll bitch ass.”
Kennedy was arrested and booked on charges of aggravated battery in a public place and threatening a public official. He showed up for court Wednesday with bail set for $100,000. He’s still behind bars with his next court date set for August.
We can’t wait to hear what the backstory to all of this is. He really went gangster and thought he was going to intimidate the police to go back about their merry little way. Ouch.
