Just a little over a decade now T-Pain’s version of the Miami Dolphins’ fight song debuted at the Versace Mansion in South Beach and Marc Anthony even bought a portion of the team then hoping to liven things up with the new starpower involved. Those were good times. And hearing T-Pain’s voice at every game would make one think he was the team’s biggest fan. Why else make your name synonymous with them by remixing their fight song? He was asked at the airport if he had given up on them given their current 0-3 losing streak. He said, “I been associated with them, don’t have to be a fan to get money.” And take into consideration he was 23 at the time he redid their song and as he said, it was a check. Not that he was hurting at all. He was definitely one of the most known names in hiphop that year but a check is a check.

The self-proclaimed born and bred Florida boy made it known you can be from an area and not like their sports team. And he’s right about that. Growing up I couldn’t even wear a Redskins coat in my own city of DC because they’re well… the Redskins. The city seems to have a sports team curse. But he took it a step further. He said the team players aren’t fans of the team either. He said they’re also there for their checks. “Nobody’s playing football because they wanna run up and down a field all day. Everybody’s getting money! It’s the same thing! I’d wear a jersey and run up and down the field all day too if I was making millions of dollars. Anybody offering money want me to come do your halftime show? Absolutely! I’ll wear your jersey for a whole f*cking day if you want me to! Hell yeah, that’s what it’s all about!”

Well alrighty then. Count T-Pain as not being a fan of the Miami Dolphins. Duly noted.
