Todd Chrisley of Chrisley Knows Best announced a new episode for his Chrisley Confessions about recent developments on race relations captioned with “Silent Racism, I Love How God Made Me, and It’s Enough. Today I am joined by surprise guest Chloe for a conversation about race and racism in America. Plus your questions about how the show affects regular life. #chrisleyconfessions OUT NOW on your nearest podcast app!” Chloe, for those who don’t know is his 7 year old mixed race granddaughter his son Kyle’s child.
As trolls typically do, one appeared to throw some salt on his post. “Im sorry I don’t like it marry your own color it really screws up the kids,” they wrote. Todd made sure to respond letting her know that was inappropriate. “Hello Patti, I hope that the lord lets you live long enough to see that color doesn’t screw kids up, but ignorance and hate most certainly will.” He added, “I will pray that God tempers your heart and that he grants you clarity.” And that was significant because I always say it says a lot about a person that just lets racism run rampant in their comment sections. Obviously people are busy but at some point you’re going to see it, be told about it and if you deliberately let it go unchecked, it says a lot about you. The same goes for people feeling comfortable enough to say these things around you.
What came next took everyone by surprise. After slamming the troll, Todd decided to continue on his day dancing to Beyonce. The song in particular was Schoolin Life. Yes, Daddy Chrisley decided to school us all in life including with some belly rolling that had his children react with serious shocked faces. But isn’t that what dads are for.. to embarrass us all in front of the largest audiences possible? In the end, Todd get credit from us for addressing the issue. More of us need to have these types of conversations and just as importantly call out those on the wrong side of history as he did.
