Monday former President Donald Trump reported that his Mar-a-Lago estate had been raided by the feds in what has become an unprecedented move of searching a former president’s home. His son Eric Trump told FoxNews that the raid was over documents the National Archives wanted. “All of a sudden, 30 agents descend upon Mar-a-Lago. You know who this came from — this came from one place and one building, and that is the White House in Washington, D.C. They want to attack a guy who they view is the greatest threat — is Biden’s greatest threat. And that is exactly what Donald J. Trump is.”

In a written statement, Trump said “These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”

“It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections. Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries.”

“Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe! What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.”

Under normal political circumstances, an FBI raid is something that would deter anyone from running for office but in his case, he’s become a martyr for political outsiders and a populist movement on the Right. It might actually embolden him to make a 2024 run for President not to mention the game of chicken he’s been playing where he and his supporters feel that investigating or attempting to prosecute a candidate for president or a sitting president will give the appearance of being political. The US Attorney General Merrick Garland has already stated in a NBC Nightly News interview with Lester Holt, “We intend to hold everyone, anyone who was criminally responsible for the events surrounding Jan. 6, for any attempt to interfere with the lawful transfer of power from one administration to another, accountable. That’s what we do. We don’t pay any attention to other issues with respect to that.”

And regarding the National Records’ request, they asked for Presidential records through the January 6th committee, he said no and so they cam and raided his home and office of where he’s been staying since leaving office.

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has weighed in on the matter tweeting, “DOJ must immediately explain the reason for its raid & it must be more than a search for inconsequential archives or it will be viewed as a political tactic and undermine any future credible investigation & legitimacy of January 6 investigations.” And we would have to agree. To prevent any further martyr status where Trump can be seen as permanently under attack, we would have to agree. Make a statement so for full transparency purposes. But we’ll add that anyone who has followed Trump at any time over the past say 45 years would not be surprised that his home was raided. There’s a laundry list of reasons to pick from
