Wendy Williams decided to stick up for the Kardashians this morning after they were laughed at while presenting at the Emmys last night. The category they were introducing was outstanding reality TV series, won by RuPaul and in the introduction, Kim Kardashian referred to her family’s show Keeping Up with the Kardashians as “real” and “unscripted,” getting laughed at mid-intro. Kendall Jenner hardly had a chance to read her lines over all the laughter. And in came sister Kendall saying “Our family knows first-hand how truly compelling television comes from real people, just being themselves.”

In their corner was Wendy saying that the room full of people erupting in laughter at the Kardashians essentially speaking for the craft that has made them widely successful were just jealous. “You take your big education, going to drama school and all that other kind of — these girls make more money than the whole building” Wendy huffed. “People are upset cause you study drama, you want to be an actor and actress, you want to make money, you want to be famous, you want to honor your craft. And all of a sudden this family comes along called the Kardashians, years ago, and they stole everything in terms of fame,” she said. “I don’t mean steal, like bad. In a good way. I think that people are just jealous. You’re jealous. So they laughed at them.”

She has a point. It’s almost a representation of our country’s politics. You have the elites always looking their nose down at those who didn’t come up the same way they did. During a Barbara Walters interview years ago, the Kardashians were asked what were they known for and they responded that being themselves and keeping people interested in them as a person is a hard job in and of itself. And they’re absolutely right. As of now, they’re arguably the longest running most known names in reality television and one of the more recognized families in pop culture and of course, the industry is never going to fully embrace them.

Wendy went on to say, “Look Kim, Kendall, Kris, and all you all — don’t be mad at them for laughing. People are still trying to kick y’alls back in for doing such big things in such a short period of time with the only thing you have, which is love for one another and the ability to make people follow you on Instagram. That’s it. That’s it.”

Even Kathy Griffin came to their defense saying “They were laughing at them,”she told Entertainment Tonight. “Let me tell you what the Kardashians do — because I used to live next door to Kim and Kanye [West]. …What they do is they get laughed at and then they go home and they count their money — and they print it. I think they have a printing machine. Honey, [that’s]the last thing they care about,” Griffin quipped. “They’re like ching, ching, ching! And the mom [Kris Jenner] is landing 10 more branding deals.”
