Rapper Wiz Khalifa just teamed up with Oreo to release a song on, get this… an Oreo. Yes, this apparently is a thing now. And who better to choose to release music in such a manner than Wiz Khalifa, an artist known for rapping about smoking weed? You’ve got to settle your munchies some kind of way, right? The song was a collaboration between Wiz and his 5 year old son Sebastian. It’s going to be a part of an ad that’s going to screen during the Grammy’s.
If you’re wondering how such a thing works, apparently a special edition music box is going to go for sale that will allow you to play music straight from the cookie. You place the arm over the cookie and it plays sort of like a record player. The 90s and 2000 kids will probably have to Google what that is.
“Releasing a song on a cookie is crazy. Because it’s like technology has been so advanced these days and to incorporate something that is really really classic and then bring it up to date with the technology… it’s good for the kids, it’s good for everybody but it’s also just super cool – like it’s fun to see,” Khalifa told Hot New Hip Hop.
This apparently happened before as Massive Attack reissued ‘Mezzanine’ on a can of spray paint. I wonder what’s next? Will Trey Songz have love songs downloadable from edible panties? PS., I would like credit for this idea if it ever happens. A preview of Wiz Khalifa’s commercial with his son is below.
