Earlier in the year T-Pain said he was told by Usher that his usage of autotune ruined music, a comment so piercing it sent him into a depression and affected his future work. In a new Billboard Magazine interview, Usher now says it’s all water under the bridge.
“I’m happy that T-Pain said something,” Usher said. “I’m not sure if it was before or after our actual conversation, after I heard what was said. It was very hurtful to know that he had experienced that kind of hardship in life. I wouldn’t wish that on any person.” He said they’ve now spoken in private and that they’re “good.”
“Private conversations for me have always been intended to uplift. But when or if people get pieces of it, they can always have some other interpretation,” Usher said. “We’ve spoken since and we’re good.”
It’s good that these two have gotten beyond this because Usher doesn’t need any distractions with his new residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Vegas. He’s now two weeks into his time there and told USA Today how much of a pleasure it is to be back out in front of fans after being on lock down for so long.
“To be greeted with the excitement of people who want to get out after being locked down the past year – and the fact that I’m playing a venue where legendary artists have played – it’s all just an honor. Even as a kid, when I would look back and hear about Sinatra or Elvis, (Vegas) was always the place they went. This is the planned destination for anyone who considers themselves an artist who has made a contribution.” His show has so far been sold out to the point that more dates have been added.
As for his words on his relationship with T-Pain, do you believe that things have truly been patched up between them now or is he just trying to save face?
