We’re 20 years into reports of Desperate Housewives drama and yet somehow the show’s first heartthrob, Jesse Metcalfe somehow never managed to share a word about it, that is until now. During a recent panel appearance at Southfork Experience, he revealed that he was quite oblivious to what was happening on set. In fact, he said he was just happy to be working.
“I was just happy to have a job. I went through an entire pilot season, I didn’t book anything, and I tested for Desperate Housewives, which was a recast, right at the end of that pilot season and ended up booking it“ he said about his experience.
“I was just kind of riding the wave, you know, because that show really broke me and I had everything coming at me and I was just enjoying it,” he added.
“Matter of fact, there’s a lot of stories about all the drama on that set between some of our lead females. And I was like, I was oblivious to it, basically, you know, because I was just so thrilled to be on a show and just so in the moment,” he continued.
Back in 2020 he also spoke glowingly about his time working with the ladies, stating “For someone with minimal acting experience that grew up in a small town in Connecticut, being a working actor, making the money I was making, living the lifestyle I was living — it was exciting. It was very fulfilling.” One thing he’s definitely good about is minding his business for the sake of being employed. He could have easily gave commentary about it to the press but kept it under wraps and even to this day because clearly, it had nothing to do with him. Besides, we’re sure he was happy being the show’s original heartthrob.
Today a reboot of the show is currently in the works, being developed by Disney’s Onyx Collective and to be produced by Kerry Washington’s Simpson Street and 20th Television. An ETA on a release date isn’t clear and though she’s involved in production, it isn’t clear whether Washington will appear on the show. Also, the show’s original creator Marc Cherry isn’t part of the reboot but is aware and could potentially play a role. Eva Longoria has said in the past that she would be the first to join if there’s a reboot, but so far no word on if any of the original characters will be returning. So if you’re hoping for some steamy scenes with Metcalfe, hold tight and we’ll report on it as we get more details.
