But it isn’t just the fact that she gets to work with Katy Perry that’s a big deal, it’s her first time performing in arenas, something that can be quite the shock factor for anyone.
So just how is Rebecca adjusting to this new reality of hers? On the MTV VMAs red carpet this weekend at New York’s UBS Arena, she said “I have said it once, and I’ll say it again. It is the gay sex that I am so blessed to have that I can look forward to.’
Okay, Rebecca. Same. Gay sex has gotten me through some hard times in my life as well. No homo. And of course I’m not gay either. As for who she’s having all this gay sex with, she says “My girlfriend.”
At least it’s just one person. And thanks to Katy Perry, we’re able to have these discussions because when she first released I Kissed a Girl in 2008, it was the biggest scandal. Now in 2025 we have a president in a scandal about literally buying women and presenting large checks to Jeffrey Epstein to do so like it was a charitable donation and somehow that’s normal. But back to the story.
What was the “craziest part” about being a part of a show the scale of Katy’s? “It takes more than a village. It’s multiple cities of people who are working day and night to get these things up. I can’t believe she trusts these girls to put her in the sky. It’s a lot,” she says. I was so overstimulated the first night and so scared, and by the end it felt so like redeeming to be able to get on and be like, ‘This is just another show,'” she explains. “It was so much fun. But it was crazy.”
We’re happy for her. It’s hard to believe she’s the same girl that released Friday back in 2011. It looks like she got the last laugh out of it all.
