Today’s Throwback Thursday is Rasheeda’s remix to Young Money’s 2009 hit Bedrock. Pulling in fellow Georgia female artists Toya Johnson, Kandi Burruss, Diamond and Lola, the song was featured on her mixtape Boss Bitch Music Vol 2. The song showed a young Kandi Burruss just one season into being on The Real Housewives of Atlanta making a nod to the Hanna-Barbera cartoon saying “Ooohhh baby, I’m a put it down on you baby, Wanna give it all to you baby, Can you find my G-Spot, call me Mrs. Flintstone I can make your bedrock.”
The My Bubble Gum rapper Rasheeda isn’t new to collaborating with Kandi Burruss. A likely lesser known fact is that the two actually had a group in the 2000s called Peach Candy. They collaborated on the track I Wish I Never with Yung Joc and Lil Scrappy, a song about regretting going to bed with a guy and the hilarious U Ugly. Rasheeda rapped “But U Got Nesley Crunch On Ya Neck And Ya Grill Spread Out Like A Basketball Net (Ball Net) Honey U So Flaw If We Go On A Date The Ugly Might Rub Off.”
Fast forward to 2024 and Rasheeda hasn’t made music in quite awhile. We believe it’s been a decade or more and she sat down with TVInsider this summer and spoke about getting back in the studio and how music would be the focus of the latest season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta so that would be refreshing to see from her. And Kandi has been sporadically dropping singles from time to time but no album in about a decade as well. Her last full project we’re aware of is the soundtrack to her Broadway play A Mother’s Love in 2014. She along with Rasheeda have been more focused on being bosses in their own right in recent years. Kandi Burruss is the most successful businesswoman on the Real Housewives of Atlanta with her many franchises and Rasheeda has a show on Philo called Boss Moves which is literally about her keen business acumen and all of the fields she’s excelled in over the years from real estate to cosmetics and fashion.
