Harvey Weinstein Struggles Walking Out of Court Citing Back Problems Ahead of Rape Trial

Harvey Weinstein had a bail hearing today where he walked out of a New York City courtroom noticeably limping. He even seemed to be unable to hold himself up as he had assistants on both sides helping him get around. Apparently he’s been having severe back pain and walks around with a walker at home. Now my first reaction is that that’s a shame that his back is hurting. Maybe if he wasn’t banging so many people in Hollywood against their will, he’d be fine now. Bill Cosby went through the exact same thing with him needing help walking inside of court.

The bail hearing was to discuss raising it from $1 million to $5 million because the two part ankle monitor he’s supposed to be wearing, he’s not been keeping up with and he’s been having trouble keeping it in range, supposedly. Given that he’s been out free since first being charged with sex crimes, including rape and sexual assault back in May 2018, you’d think he’d be trying to follow the rules so he doesn’t have to start his prison rot early. He has a trial that’s set for January 6th for 5 charges involving 2 accusers from 2013 and 2006.

Now back to this walk of his. One of his lead attorneys, Donna Rotunno told USA Today, “He has a back problem and he’s in a lot pain. It’s been exacerbated by some issues and now he’s dealing with it.” She went on to say he uses a walker in his “regular lift” but that “he decided not to use it today because he didn’t want to seem as if he’s trying to get publicity and now people are slamming him. It’s disgusting. There’s nothing fake about it – you can tell by his appearance from August to now, it’s clear that he’s suffering.”

The internet of course hasn’t been that kind to the man with some talking about wealthy white men developing health issues right before court. This might be true for the likes of say Weinstein and Paul Manafort, but Bill Cosby and Suge Knight are both black. And they took things a step further by both going blind. Now I’ll accept that about Cosby but Suge? I won’t even say because he might get someone to hold me upside down from an upstairs window at home. Also, in his defense, stress does manifest itself in your back. The problem comes with how he’s filmed turning the corner with his arms in front of him but suddenly put them behind his back with his handlers holding him up, almost appearing to pretend he’s in handcuffs when he isn’t. It’s safe to say he’s likely going to be putting his producing skills to work for this trial and that there will be plenty more where this came from.
