A lot of people seem to be struggling with being quarantined at home with mothers getting arrested for being at closed down playgrounds, police chasing people at beaches and people getting dragged off of public transportation by police officers for not wearing masks. But that’s not the case for Demi Lovato. She’s been doing just fine because she said she got her practice during the few times she went into rehab.
She’s currently quarantined at home with her family and said her mother’s doing obsessive cleaning as a way to pass the time. She didn’t mention whether she’s quarantining with her boyfriend Max Ehrich as some have rumored. I’m not so sure about how many parents would want their child to have a man over for quarantine.
She spoke about her quaranting routine with Jameela Jamil for her I Weigh podcast. While originally looking at some quotes covered by the show before listening, I decided to look into the show host. She and Lovato have a lot in common. One of the last things written about her was from The Tabb where a writer accused Jamil of Munchausen syndrome, listing everything she said has ever been wrong with her saying she was making it up for attention. I have not heard this mentioned since 2015 when Yolanda Foster was accused of it. It’s pretty serious and I just had to see who this person is they were talking about.
Listening to Jamil’s podcast, she’s a very genuine person that has open conversations with people about body positivity, issues growing up, race, etc. In fact, the first time I heard of her was when she canceled an interview with Candace Owens over something transphobic she said. I don’t remember the statement but Owens has gone on extensive rants about how she refuses to engage anyone’s mental illness regarding the gender to call them, etc. It’s the type of argument that would only occur on a podcast because no one does that in person, or at least I can guarantee she wouldn’t. With that being said, Jamil made the right decision in canceling her. Her show isn’t the type of platform to have an all out fight with someone.
One of the topics covered was Lovato and Jamil sharing their frustration of no one realistically being a sample size and therefore can’t be the first in wearing fashions in magazines, thus causing the domino effect of hurting their chances at fulfilling promo obligations. And hearing this from Jamil who already is small seems insane. Not long ago Lovato started sharing images of herself showing things like pinched body fat with body positivity captions on how she still loved herself despite cellulite etc.
Jamil revealed that there’s no way she could survive as a teenager with today’s social media with things like FaceTune that allows you to change your facial features to your liking. Conveniently left out in the list of things she was mocked for was having anorexia as a teenager. They probably felt that would be just a bridge too far in the evil department. But it’s one that completely makes sense. We’re exactly 20 days apart in age and she came up in the time of Kate Moss, the Olsen Twins, Paris Hilton and all of the other rail thin women so to have an eating disorder makes complete sense. And our diets are inextricably linked to everything else so to leave that out in talking about her health and what is very likely an ongoing struggle isn’t painting a clear picture of her.
Demi Lovato has said she’s not that comfortable with fame and that being quarantined at home works perfectly for her. And to think, she’s got her mother there making the house spotless for her. Jamil on the other hand said instead of having someone else in the house cleaning everything, her boyfriend’s just dirtying everything. It’s also worth noting he’s 6’8… AND she just announced coming out as queer 2 months ago. I’m not quite sure how that’s supposed to work, but hey.. whatever works and we’re happy for her just the same.
