Rapper 50 Cent is backing out of the idea of participating in the infamous Verzuz battle which some might see as him being scared. Not so, says 50. During a premeire party for his new show Power Book III: Raising Kanan, he said we should be focused on “creating new history” isntead of focusing on things put in place because we essentially had nothing else to do during quarantine.

“A Verzuz battle? Probably not,” 50 said. “We back outside. That was something that happened during the pandemic when we was stuck in the house. Now that we back outside, there’s other things to do. We supposed to be creating new history, not being back there.”

He even expressed the same thing back in March on The Morning Show Hustle when he said “I thought Verzuz was something we did when we was stuck in the house. As soon as we got out of the house to come back outside, Verzuz didn’t make sense to me.”

As for who he would do a Verzuz with, he said The Game. “As much as we fought and argued in the early stages I rather see him benefit from the momentum than someone else. He’s still going to be part of G-Unit and part of the legacy overall, even if you just want to focus on the break-up.”

But while he’s likely not going to participate in Verzuz, he’s actually working on his own celebrity battle rap show. Titled Unrapped, it’ll be produced by his G-Unit Film & Television company and SFO Entertainment.

And casting’s already begin for the show. He put out a statement saying, “I am excited to expand my relationship with ABC,” 50 said in a statement. “Unrapped brings G-Unit Film and Television’s ability to put incredible music and musical talent on screen to the competition space.”
