R Kelly’s recently been accused of targeting and sleeping with a 17 year old boy in Chicago in the mid 2000s which he objected to being included in his next court date citing no LGBT bias questions were included in the juror questionaire. His legal team also cited a lack of time allowed to them to prepare. When it happened we said that he may get this one but he’s obviously going to have to answer for this at some point.
Well now Kelly’s legal team has submitted 6 new questions to prevent any LGBT discrimination in the juror selection process. The first question is “Do you have any views about heterosexual, lesbian, gay, and/or bisexual people that would affect your ability to be a fair and impartial juror?” The rest of the questions are of similar nature.
Kelly’s attorneys were in court Tuesday to discuss his charges for leading a team of managers, bodyguards and other employees to help recruit women for sex which has lead to him pleading not guilty to racketeering, bribery, coercion, enticement and sex trafficking. While there, one of his attorneys, Devereaux Cannick said Kelly needed to be measured for new clothing as he’s gained weight while incarcerated. He also asked that court transcripts be provided at no cost because Kelly’s “funds are depleted” because he’s been unable to work the last 2 years.
Now we’re not so sure about Kelly’s finances because even though he’s appeared to have issues paying for properties of his in recent years, he’s also been accused of hiding money since these recent cases have progressed. So who knows if all of that has been to keep up appearances. As for the weight gain, that just puts him in the same boat as the rest of the country during COVID so that shouldn’t be getting him any added sympathy.
