Dwight Howard feat
There is a meme of an 18 wheeler rolling over and falling into a ditch narrated by a man saying, “Sometimes a day is f*cked so bad it can no longer be unf*cked. Give up. Go to bed and start again tomorrow…” or something like that. And that would sum up Dwight Howard’s day. In the last 7 days Dwight has been accused of constant cocaine use by his wife Amy Luciani and that Child Protective Services took a child of theirs recently, the police were at his home for a threat of suicide, claims a woman in a Camaro had stolen his wedding ring, he filed for divorce and his wife said he had over 1,000 guns in his home. Then yesterday he announced his retirement from the NBA. I mean if I had all that going on and you’re alright financially, f*ck it. I’d sit down and just quit, too. Can you blame him?

He shared the retirement news on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “Woke up today on the 12th of this month and I figured it’s time to move on from Superman! Im no super human… I cry ! I struggle! I feel like everyone else. Through the lies, the media and the hate I still show love and Smile Through The Storm.

“But now Im taking off the cape and retiring from all basketball to pour into my family and give back to communities worldwide. I know some of you might think I thought he already ‘retired’ but I didn’t… the game retired me! I still had more left to give ! Yeah I did play professionally for 20 years and Im grateful to be able to say that but I can’t lie seeing these other players still going at it at age 40 inspired me to want to keep trying but now I believe my duty will be to pass it down to the next generation.”

“So Thank you to all my fans and supporters throughout this journey I love and appreciate yall dearly because without yall it would be no me!”

The reality is Howard hasn’t played in the NBA since 2022. And he’s previously announced a documentary that he now says will be out later this year. If there’s any documentary we’re looking forward to, it would be this because at just 40 years old, this man has definitely lived a full life. And to be fair, he was inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame 6 months ago. He went on to add, “Also thank you to the Naysayers, the haters, the snakes, and people that came into my life to try to destroy me, Because everytime yall did …it only made me stronger. When my documentary releases this year the world will know the truth about EVERYTHING! Then you will see how the sheltered little boy from college park Georgia who went to the same school from pre-k to 12th grade then straight to the NBA was taken advantage of by the world. But through it all still managed to keep SMILING.”

We are legitimately curious to hear what he has to say about what all is going on and also, just what the hell is going on. Essence did a piece on how his marriage is the perfect example of what ignoring red flags can teach us. Not that we’re on a high horse of perfection or anything but the man has children by 5 different women so that already starts you off in a negative. Between that and the years of drug allegations, child abuse allegations, the sexual assault lawsuit he had against him just a year and a half before he got married, filed by another man which Dwight said was an consensual event, even though he says he isn’t gay. The man has a lot going on. And 6 months into their marriage, they both had restraining orders against each other so she realized that pretty early on. And they just got married January 2025. I mean how do you jump to having restraining orders against each other within just 6 months? What happened to the honey moon period? People who have lives don’t have time to fight with each other than much. I’d expect at least a year before getting into that type of territory.

Anyway Dwight, let us know when the documentary is coming out. Until then we’re turning notifications on in the group chat because this is entertaining.
