The My Type rapper Saweetie was announced by McDonalds today to have her own meal go up for sale at all locations starting August 9th. What will be known as the “Saweetie Meal” will include a Big Mac, 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, a medium Sprite, tangy barbecue sauce and “Saweetie and Sour Sauce” (the chain’s traditional sweet and sour sauce renamed for the performer). That sounds like something we’d try although they could have come up with a different sauce and not just renamed something they already had… just to have something different.
“McDonald’s and I run deep – from growing up back in Hayward, California, all through my college days – so I had to bring my icy gang in on my all-time favorites,” Saweetie said in a statement. “Depending on the mood I’m in, there are so many ways to enjoy my order. I like to keep things fresh – I know that’s right.”

This meal is being marketed as being “customizable” showing different ways to eat it such as covering the nuggets with sauce and putting them between two buns and replacing the top bun with fries. If this sounds crazy, she has in her vlog shared long before this meal became a thing that that was how she ate her McDonalds. Other than Boonkgang who ate his McDonalds through a straw after having it blended when he had his mouth wired shut, I said I had never ever heard anyone manipulate anything from McDonalds before. I thought that defeated the purpose of it being called “fast food.”
“We’re thrilled to team up with Saweetie, a true brand fan who puts her own spin on everything she touches across music, fashion, beauty and culture,” said Morgan Flatley, chief marketing and digital customer experience officer, McDonald’s USA. “And now she’s brought that spark and creativity to her signature McDonald’s order by celebrating her love for our food and passion for mixing things up.”

The cool part will be the Saweetie official branding placed on the packaging. Now that we can’t wait to see. Described as “icy,” it’s going to be inspired by McDonalds. We don’t generally equate McDonalds with diamonds but this sounds like it’s going to be interesting.
Previous McDonalds partnerships included BTS, Travis Scottt and J Balvin. These partnerships have helped boost McDonald’s sales with their latest quarter sales up over 25%.
