It is a time honored tradition to pick a group of minorities to blame for whatever the country has as its problems and that is no different than the case of Lil Nas X. We’ve described him before as being representative of a cultural shift in entertainment that we’ve not seen since Lady Gaga, particularly among the LGBT community. But it has been the backlash of all things LGBT today being attributed to him and all of the prominent names willing to hang everything on the line for this that has been crazy.
Case in point is this viral post on Facebook asking if the LGBTQ community can cancel DaBaby, why can’t the straight community cancel Lil Nas X? Well let’s think about that. Lil Nas X is one person making music about who he is. Other artists have chosen to drag him into discussions saying he’s so shocking that it’s causing them to disparage the gay community. It’s the same argument that racists tend to have when they say they get so upset and so frustrated that the N word comes out. We all have self-control and one boy making music about same sex attraction is not going to turn the world gay.
Another issue with this is that Lil Nas X is 22 years old. I am not a fan of bullying young people. He’s barely legal to drink and who at 22 didn’t want to be naked all the time and talk about sex? This is normal behavior for someone like him. These are people who literally need to get socked in the mouth by someone in their weight class and age group for a lot of what’s been getting put out there lately. And keep in mind, he didn’t say anything about a whole group of people which is what makes these remarks about him simply uncalled for.
Check out the reactions he received from the public.
