When August Alsina rose to fame in 2013 with I Luv This Shit, he was a welcome refreshment as male R&B pretty much just consisted of Trey Songz and Chris Brown fighting to gain his spot back. But now about a decade later, he’s all but seemed to have shown little interest in music. A fan wrote him on Twitter, now known as X joking about him “not doing music anymore” which resulted in him giving quite the bit of insight about his career and what he’s experienced in the industry.

“One day it’ll be revealed the diabolical level of doxxing, railroading, stonewalling, roadblocking, gaslighting, and betrayal that goes on behind the scenes within this industry.” Alsina wrote the fan in response to him seemingly being absent from the industry as of late. He continued, ““Abuse of power, all in the name of up-keeping facades, promotion of lies and illusions; While simultaneously hiding of hands to make it look as though you’re fighting an invisible boogey-man. In this industry there is no HR to report this kind of behavior to. BUT GOD has never slept on my prayers or report. Give.It.Time! In the other news, l’ve been building business and exploring new territory, successfully:) check it out; encinawellness.com.”

One of Alsina’s biggest moments has been his calling out of Jada Pinkett Smith, claiming she took advantage of him while he was in bad health for a romantic relationship. Given that he basically blew the top on one of black Hollywood’s biggest couples and single handedly made Will Smith a meme and laughing stock not just for years to come but during COVID when people had nothing but time on their hands to really rub it in, we could imagine that caused quite the amount of career backlash. Still, as a stand out talent, we’ll see if he has the perseverance to withstand the darts thrown at him. He does at least seem happier as he’s opened up about his sexuality hinting at a relationship with a man, something he likely wouldn’t have been able to do if he were topping the R&B charts. For all we know, that might have been the breakthrough he needed, more than Billboard fame. Still, we’ll be here waiting when he decides to elaborate on what diabolical acts he’s had to live through as an artist.
