In the midst of her whirlwind of explosive social media stardom, podcaster Bobbi Althoff has found herself facing not only divorce but all manner of speculation around what the cause may have been. The 27 year old host of the Really Good Podcast came to a settlement with her 34 year old ex hubby Cory Althoff where she will be having primary custody of their two daughters Isla, 2, and Luca, 4 where he’ll be seeing them Saturday through Monday and they’ll each be keeping their respective assets and debts. And while the social media sensation has became famous for being an open book about her life, she’s been not just rather quiet about what caused her divorce, she’s been quite defensive when people have been asking questions.
We’re going to start with what Bobbi has said about her divorce. “Our girls are incredibly fortunate to have him as their father,” she shared when Cory filed for divorce in July 2023. Reflecting on their time together, she expressed gratitude, saying, “I am so thankful for the time I got to be his wife.” She also praised him as an “incredible father and person,” adding that she feels lucky to co-parent with him. She concluded with a heartfelt message: “While our relationship didn’t work out as husband and wife, we will always remain friends, and I will always love him.”
Now for what the optics say and speculation from fans are. The interview that really catapulted Althoff’s fame is the one she had with Drake which has somehow been scrubbed from the internet. Now why would a pandemic era social media star who became famous during lockdown posting to TikTok about her pregnancy that landed the grand puba of interviews suddenly take it down without explanation leading many to believe they had slept together which also contributed to her divorce. She recently was seen on camera explaining going overboard with cosmetic procedures and one of them had her looking like she had two black eyes but that was just scarring from under eye filler. If you’d remember, Drake said she looked tired and needed some sleep. Perhaps she did it because the man she slept with criticized her looks on camera.. or it could just be chalked up to Hollywood transplant behavior.
One social media comment that caused her to spaz out was “Damn get divorced, choosing fame over your now ex-husband just to get passed around by different guys weekly.” She replied saying “I never respond to this comment that I’ve been getting a million times a day for the last year, but I am really sick of seeing it. Anyone who says stuff like this is so f*cking ignorant. You don’t know why my marriage ended, that we both are so much happier apart than we were ever together. That now our kids get to see two happy parents instead of zero.” She continued, “Like do you really believe that it was my dream in life to be a divorced mom of 2 kids by 25? Obviously not. I’m obviously insecure about it & wish things played out differently in my life.”
Now one thing that doesn’t help her case was last month when she was carried out of a bar drunk and limp by NFL player Sean Murphy-Bunting. If you don’t want to be accused of cheating, being hoisted home by a beefy black guy wouldn’t be the way to go about it. In her defense, it’s not entirely surprising for a 27-year-old going through a divorce to end up getting blackout drunk. Sometimes sh** happens. It isn’t as though I haven’t done similar before. Either way it just looks like she’s living through the challenges of fame with her second rate deadpan humor style that’s been popularized by so many before her and were much better than her. See: Ziwe and Zach Galifianakis. When you’re seen as doing what Omarosa referred to as being rewarded in life for being white and mediocre, you’re definitely not going to miss jabs at what you’re doing and have going on.”
