Colin Kaepernick appears to finally be getting his chance again with the NFL. The league sent out a memo to all 32 teams this past Tuesday with an invite to attend a workout with Kaepernick. So far about a dozen teams will be sending reps which is a start, but Kaepernick allegedly almost pulled out due to the league’s insistence on the date being Saturday. The problem with that is that it’s hard to get teams to attend anything on weekends. He proposed to have it moved to a week date but the league wasn’t being accommodating with him on the date change.

His lifelong friend and former teammate Brandon Marshall is currently side eyeing the situation saying it just doesn’t smell right. He’s described it as “weird” and told TMZ Sports “It seems so fishy.” In his interview he told them, “It could be disingenuous. It could be a PR stunt just to get away from the blackball talk.” The two have known each other since Colin was 17 and even played college ball together. He went on to say “There’s so many questions to this. That’s why everyone’s looking at it sideways. Like, what’s going on with this?” Although he has his questions, he does say that he hopes this is legit and that he gets a chance to show his skills. Similarly, the saga that is Kaepernick in sports has gone on for so long, it’s good to see some progress being made for his career.

Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation company has been announced for their partnership with the NFL back in August is reported to have had something to do with Kaepernick getting his workout date. For all we know, it very well could be for publicity but who knows, he just might get picked up. Even the President said once that if he was good enough he could see him getting back into the NFL. Even he knew the Kaepernick bashing had gone on long enough. I certainly wish him the best and hopefully he shows he’s still got it this weekend.
