Saturday afternoon was a time a lot of us were excited getting ready for the new OWN network weekend lineup with Love & Marriage: DC and The Nightcap with Carlos King, but it wasn’t that joyous of a day for Britney Spears. She made the unfortunate announcement on Instagram signed by her and her fiance Sam Asghari that she had had a miscarriage.

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” Spears wrote. “This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along. However we were overly excited to share the good news.”

“Our love for each other is our strength,” Spears’ post continues. “We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all the support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”

She just made the announcement that she was pregnant last month, which was just 5 months after her conservatorship ended in court. She had expressed last June her desire to expand her family in court saying, “I would like to progressively move forward and I want to have the real deal, I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” Spears testified last June. “I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby. I have an IUD inside of myself right now so I don’t get pregnant. I wanted to take the IUD out so I could start trying to have another baby. But this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children — any more children. So basically, this conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good.”

As of now she has two teenage boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James Federline. Knowing this was such a big deal to Britney and something she likely has looked forward to the last 13 years she’s been in a conservatorship, she gets our most heartfelt prayers and hope that she gets another chance at having more children. And given the handsome man she’s engaged to, we’re sure she’ll enjoy the process as well.
