Cardi B and her sister Hennessy Carolina are currently battling a lawsuit from 3 handful Trump supporters that Cardi called ‘racist MAGA supporters’ following a beach altercation last year. The plaintiffs, Peter Caliendo, Pauline Caliendo and Manuel Alarco, Cardi says are just seeking a money grab from her. Cardi’s motion reads “the remedy for thin skin is thicker skin, not a lawsuit.”
Hennessy is accused of battering, assaulting, threatening and defaming the group. Even though no physical contact happened, the battery comes from her and her girlfriend Michelle Diaz’ shouting exposing the plaintiffs to covid. They also claim that they are the recipients of violent threats because they were wearing MAGA hats. Cardi’s court filing states their being called racist is an opinion and therefore does not fit the definition of defamation.

The plaintiff’s attorney released a statement saying, “These peaceful Suffolk County residents were quietly enjoying a Sunday at the Smith Point Beach with their families, when rap celebrity Hennessy Carolina suddenly approached them, raging, spitting, insulting, assaulting, defaming and threatening them, all the while videotaping them, because one of them wore a MAGA hat.”
Cardi accused the 3 of racism and homophobia on Twitter in a video she shared in response to Conservative pundit Candace Owens who trashed then presidential candidate Joe Biden for speaking to Cardi while campaigning who said Cardi contributed to the disintegration of black culture and values. The video was captioned with “You wanna know why joe gotta talk to me Candice cause I have the #1 song & yet my sister can’t go to the beach in the Hampton’s wit out trump supporters harassing cause they were by themselves & Santa Claus was harassing my sis GF all because they are a Afro/Hispanic gay couple”
Cardi went on to explain, “My sister can’t go to the beach in the Hampton’s wit out trump supporters harassing cause they were by themselves & Santa Claus was harassing my sis GF all because they are a Afro/Hispanic gay couple.” When Hennessy was accused of starting the fight in the comments, Cardi fired back saying, “Nooooo that big pink man was harassing my sister girlfriend to move her car for no reason and then my sister came there had a back and forth and they stood quit when she Wip that phone out.”
The plaintiffs accused Cardi of violating their right to privacy by publishing the video. They also claim the video is edited, and thus taken out of context.
