Cardinals player Darius Philon had a little bit of trouble yesterday when he was arrested for a May incident of him pointing a gun and threatening to shoot a female stripper outside of a strip club. The 6’1 286 lb Defensive End was alleged to have asked the two women he walked to his car where he claimed to have had money, “which one of you wants a bullet,” while grabbing a black handgun. He was said to have lowered the gun before raising it to point at the two women again. The victim telling the story said they then ran back inside of the club before he took off. He then, as the genius he is (sarcasm), returned to the scene of the crime the next night wanting to make things right asking her to leave with him. She said she denied and he got physical with her by grabbing her arm preventing her from getting away. She said she eventually broke loose and he followed her around the club for the next half hour.

The victim waited several weeks before reporting to the Phoenix Police Department. The investigation took some time to be completed which is why he was just arrested Friday morning at 11 am. Philon appeared before a judge today and has since been released on $5,000 bond but with the exception that he cannot leave the state for work. He’s currently facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The Cardinals released a statement about the matter saying, “The team is aware of the situation and very serious allegations involving Darius Philon,” the Cardinals said in a statement. “We have informed the National Football League as required by the league’s Personal Conduct Policy and will comment further when appropriate.” The team has the option of placing him on leave with pay or cutting him altogether to keep from having to pay him at all. He was given a $4 million signing bonus earlier this year and has a base salary of $1 million left to pay him this year so he’s likely going to hang around but we’ll report on this as it progresses.
