A day after her father and ex boyfriend Ryan Dorsey went swimming in Lake Piru along with a search team of 100, Naya Rivera’s body has been found in the lake dead. In a case that rocked so many given how an innocent boat ride with her 4 year old son was so hard to imagine resulting in such a terrible way. This came after 5 days of her going missing when her son Josey Hollis Dorsey was found by authorities on a pontoon by himself and said something had happened while they were swimming together because she didn’t return back with him.

Rivera was most known for her time with Glee that began in 2009 which lead to a subsequent signing to Columbia Records two years later. That was also when she was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group for vocals with the Glee ensemble with “Don’t Stop Believin.'” Her single ‘Sorry‘ came out in 2013 featuring Big Sean who she would go on to briefly be engaged to, and separated the following year. This is when she spent the next 4 years married to actor Ryan Dorsey, Joey’s father before divorcing in 2018.

Celebrities took time paying their respects on social media disappointed with the news such as former Glee costar of hers Jane Lynch who described her as “a force of nature” on Twitter. “Rest sweet, Naya. What a force you were. Love and peace to your family,” she wrote. Janel Parrish of Pretty Little Liars wrote “Rest In Peace and power, Naya.” RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Trinity the Tuck wrote, “Sending much love and positive thoughts into the universe for Naya’s family!! RIP.”

A heartbreaking photo of friends and family of Rivera’s was taken by ABC7 Eyewitness News showing them all holding hands apparently praying for her safe return right before it was announced that she was found dead. It was a truly sad sight to see. Our prayers are with her family at this time.
