Rapper and star of MTV’s Ridiculousness Chanel West Coast sat down with Shirley Ju for Shirley’s Temple and revealed Nicki Minaj’ hand in sabotaging her Young Money deal. It’s been almost 10 years since she originally joined the label before leaving with many wondering just what happened, especially after being on Love & Hip Hop. That would have at least been expected to have helped her career.

When asked about her Young Money exit, West Coast said, “It didn’t work out because, basically, it was more because of certain people really not feeling me being part of the clique.” When Nicki Minaj’ name came up, she said, “Yeah, yeah, it was that,” she said. “But I don’t really wanna talk about that because it’s really old. I’m really grateful that Wayne fucked with me and gave me a co-sign and was like, be part of my clique, but yeah, I can’t control what happened. So many different politics that people don’t know behind the scenes.”

She said she really wanted to work more with Lil Wayne and that she even named her dog Weezy. She went on to say Tupac was the reason why she began rapping.

As for the reason Nicki didn’t like her, we’re just going to try our hand out at speculation here. West Coast said she met Wayne by lying to Security saying she was with Wayne as a way to get to his green room. As an established artist, looking at someone go through all of that, it does make you… well, kind of want them to go away. It’s very groupie-ish. And didn’t Lyrica Anderson shade her during a Love & Hip Hop reunion by saying she wasn’t even talented without saying her name? Well, all the best to West Coast.

Fast forward to the 7:14 mark to hear her remarks on Nicki Minaj:
